Tingri Mount.Everest Walking & Trekking

Mount Everest,located in Xegar County,is the highest peak on earth with an altitude of 8848m. It is 620km from Lhasa and it takes one and a half days to get there.Rongbuk Monastery is the highest monastery in the world, 5000m above sea level,and from there you can get excellent views of Mt.Everest. You can walk the 8km from Rongbuk to Base camp.

This trekking itinerary is 4-5 days trek from Old Tingri to Rongbuk Monastery,On this trek route you can get nice view of Mt.Choyu and Mt.Everest as clearly as very near to you.

Day01:FLY TO LHASA (BY TRAIN)
Fly or By train to Lhasa (3650 m.)

Day02:SIGHTSEEING
AM:Visit Sera Monastery PM: Jokhang Temple & Barkhor street
Sera is the second biggest Gelupa Monastery in the north suburb of Lhasa, which was built in 1419 by Tsongapa's disciple Sakya-yeshi. Situated at the heart of the oldest section of the Lhasa city, Jokhang, one of the oldest temples in Tibet, was built in the 7th century by the 33rd king Sontsanganbu. Barkor is the middle pilgrimage circuit around Jokhang temple.

Day03:SIGHTSEEING
AM:Visit Potala Palace PM:Drepung Monastery & Norbulingka Palace
Potala was the winter palace of the Dalailama, which was originally built in the 7th century by the king Sotsen Gampo and rebuilt to the present size by the 5th Dalai lama in the 17th century. Built in the mid-18th century by the 7th Dalailama, Norbulingka, the Jewel Park was the Dalai lama's summer palace, it covers 100 acres with palaces, pavilions and a zoo.
Drepung monastery; Built in1416 by Tsongapa's disciple Jamyang-choje, Drepung Monastery is the biggest Gelupa monastery in the west suburb of Lhasa.

Day04:DRIVE TO GYANTSE
Drive to Gyantse Via Yamdraktso and Mt.Nyecheng Gangsang O/H Gyantse Hotel

Day05:DRIVE TO SHIGATSE
Drive to Shigatse (3900 m.) O/H Hotel Manasarovar

Day06:DRIVE TO LHATSE VIA SAKYAMONASTERY
Drive to Lhatse via Sakya (3950 m.)

Day07:DRIVE TO TINGRI
Drive to Tingri (4500 m.)Drive to Tingri,this is another amazing driving day as we view the sharp contrast of lush lower hills to the barren landscape of the Tibetan Plateau. Along the way we will cross Lalung La pass, where views of Everest and much of the Himalayan range are first seen. Tonight we will stay in the small town of Tingri. and order the yaks for next day trek O/H Camp

Day08:TREK
Trek to Lungthang (4510m). Our trekking adventure begins today as we make our way through the Tingri plain. Throughout the day we can visit a small gompa in Chholun. Tonight will be spent in a comfortable campsite in Lunthang. This bleak region is home only to herders and barley harvesters.

Day09:TREK
Trek to Lamna La (5150 m). The challenging trekking really starts today as we ascend into the mountains. Much uphill walking is done as we climb towards the top of Lamna La. Camp will be made right near the top of this pass.

Day10:TREK
Trek to Zommug (4790 m). In the morning we descend steeply into lush vegetation. The only other people we will encounter are yak herders and their families. Camp will be made in the small village of Zommug. Truly amazing views can be seen as the sun sets in this barren town.

Day11/12:TREK
Trek to Rongbuk. On our last day of trekking we will wind our way to the end destination of Rongbuk Everest Base Camp. Along the way we can also visit the Dza Rongbuk monastery and gompas. They are truly ancient sites, but nothing compared to our night camping at Everest Base Camp.

Day13:REST AND HIKING
After the breakfast,go to visit highest monastery on the world and excursion around.

Day14:DRIVE TO TINGRI
Drive to Tingri from short cut and enjoy the beautiful view of snow peaks from hotel,O/H Snowland Amdo GH

Day15:DRIVE TO FRIENDSHIP BRIDGE
Drive to Zhangmu / Exit
