Shalu Narthang Walking & Trekking

This journey will take you around the most sacred monasteries and places in and around Lhasa,and will also include a trek from Shalu Monastery to Nartang Monastery.Shalu Monastery is located next to Shigtase,around 14km away.The trek from Shalu Monastery to Narthang Monastery,which takes 4-5 days,is a good option if your time is limited or if you want a taste of trekking in Tibet without committing to one of the longer or more difficult routes.The trek includes two passes,though neither is particularly high.

Day01:FLY TO GANGGAR AIRPORT AND DRIVE TO TSETHANG (3650 m) 1 hr. 30 minutes flight
After breakfast,we will transfer the group to Tribhuvan International Airport to board Air China's Flight No.CA 408 to Lhasa at 10:25 am. Upon arrival at Gonggar Airport,the group shall be met by our local representative and transfer provided to your hotel in Tsethang,Overnight at Tsethang Hotel,(Veg lunch & Dinner)

Day02:EXCURSION
Drive to Ferry station and cross the Yalong Tsangpo river (Bharmaputtira) by ferry around 45 minites to get other side of the river and continue take the bus to monastery (15minites), Samye monastery is the frist monastery all over in Tibet and built in the 8th century by the Tibetan king Tesong Ditsang,Under the suporting of Indian Master Palma Sambhava(Guru Ringpoche).O/N Tsethang Hotel

Day03:DRIVE TO GYANTSE
Drive over the Khambala Pass (4970m) and where you can have wonderful view of natute lake and Mount Nyicheng Gansang,O/H Gyantse Hotel

Day04:DRIVE TO SHALU MONASTERY
Excursion around the monastery and prepare the necessary things for next day trek or manage the yaks and yak men,O/H Camp

Upper Lungsang-Ngor Monastery O/N Camp

Day07:TREK
Ngor Monastery-Nartang Monastery O/N Camp

Day09:DRIVE TO LHASA

Day10:SIGHTSEEING
AM:Visit Sera Monastery PM: Jokhang Temple & Barkhor street
Sera is the second biggest Gelupa Monastery in the north suburb of Lhasa, which was built in 1419 by Tsongapa's disciple Sakya-yeshi. Situated at the heart of the oldest section of the Lhasa city, Jokhang, one of the oldest temples in Tibet, was built in the 7th century by the 33rd king Sontsanganbu. Barkor is the middle pilgrimage circuit around Jokhang temple,O/H Shangbala or Keychu Hotel

Day11:SIGHTSEEING
AM:Visit Potala Palace PM:Drepung Monastery & Norbulingka Palace
Potala was the winter palace of the Dalailama, which was originally built in the 7th century by the king Sotsen Gampo and rebuilt to the present size by the 5th Dalai lama in the 17th century. Built in the mid-18th century by the 7th Dalailama, Norbulingka, the Jewel Park was the Dalai lama's summer palace, it covers 100 acres with palaces, pavilions and a zoo.
Drepung monastery; Built in1416 by Tsongapa's disciple Jamyang-choje, Drepung Monastery is the biggest Gelupa monastery in the west suburb of Lhasa,O/H Shangbala or Keychu Hotel

Day12:DRIVE TO AIRPORT
Lhasa-Airport 63km (1hr)/ destination by flight
