
Lhamo Lhatso is the holiest lake in Tibet. Visions can be seen in the lake, including those relating to the reincarnations of the highest lamas. The lake is located in Gyatsa county, and is at an altitude of 4000m. This trek used to take 4-5 days, but now you can drive up till Chokargyal Monastery and start the trek there, which will take one day there adn one day back. You then drive to Tsethang.
Lhamolhatso Lake,is called "the Spirit of the Celestial Maid Lake" with an altitude of 4000m, which is most legendary lake in Tibet. It covers an area of one sq. km in oval shape. The lake plays an important role in the reincarnation system of Living Buddhas in Tibetan Buddhism. Therefore the supreme homage from pilgrims comes to the lake. It is said that the reincarnation clues for every Living Buddha,like Dalai Lama or Panchen Lama, is appointed to a senior monk to practice divination by the lake and got a hint from the Heaven. Nearby the lake are the large relics of architectural complex of the Chokorgyal Monastery.
