Mount Everest Rongbuk Monastery Hiking

This tour consists of two parts. The first leg of the trip begins with excursion in Lhasa visiting the Potala palace,Jokhang,Sera and Drepung Monasteries.After Lhasa we drive to Tingri via Gyantse,Shigatse and Sakya,visiting all the popular monasteries along the way.The second pare of the trip will be the Mt.Everest Base Camp Trek from Tingri on the friendship Highway,it is relatively easy to access.The walk is not particularly strenuous- only one low pass must be crossed.Near the Base Camp is the reconstructed monastery of Rongbuk,once one of the largest monastic complexes in the region.The view from here of the Everest North face,perhaps is the most dramatic of tall its sides,is unforgettable.

Day01:KATHMANDU LHASA (3650m.)
Fly on AIR CHINA flight to Lhasa.Upon arrival at Gonggar Airport, You shall be met by your Tibetan Guide and transfer provided to Lhasa city. O/nts Kyichu Hotel


AM:Sera Monastery  PM:Jokhang temple
Sera is the second biggest Gelupa Monastery in the north suburb of Lhasa, which was built in 1419 by Tsongapa's disciple Sakya-yeshi. Situated at the heart of the oldest section of the Lhasa city, Jokhang, one of the oldest temples in Tibet, was built in the 7th century by the 33rd king Sontsanganbu.
Barkor is the middle pilgrimage circuit around Jokhang temple.


AM:Potala Palace   PM:Jokhang and Norbulinka
Potala was the winter palace of the Dalailama, which was originally built in the 7th century by the king Sotsen Gampo and rebuilt to the present size by the 5th Dalai lama in the 17th century. Built in the mid-18th century by the 7th Dalailama, Norbulingka, the Jewel Park was the Dalai lama's summer palace, it covers 100 acres with palaces, pavilions and a zoo.
Drepung monastery; Built in1416 by Tsongapa's disciple Jamyang-choje, Drepung Monastery is the biggest Gelupa monastery in the west suburb of Lhasa.

Day04:LHASA TO GYANTSE (3650m.)-259/kms.
Drive to Gyantse crossing The KAMBA LA (4794m.) & KARO LA (5010m.) PASS via The Lake Yamdrok-Tso. O/nt at Hotel . ( Gyantse Hotel) Best Hotle .

Day05:GYANTSE TO SHIGATSE (3900m.)-90/kms.
AM:Visit The Khumbum Stupa & Phalkor Monastery at Gyantse. Embark on a pleasant 2 hrs. drive to Shigatse.

Day06:SHIGATSE TO XEGAR (3900m.)-244/kms.

Day07:XEGAR TO RONGPHU (4920m.)-60/kms.
Drive over rocky terrain on 4-WD by Landcruiser/s to the village of Dza Rongphu. O/nt. at Rongphu Lodge.( Rongbuk Hotel) Best Hotel .

A 2 hrs. trek from The Rongbuk Monastery will lead you to the base of the highest peak on earth The North Face of Mount Everest (8848m.) Or Mount Quomolangma in Tibetan. Explore the base camp and The Ronghu Glacier. Retreat to lodge. Later in the afternoon, return to Tingri (approx 96 kms/ 3hrs). O/nt. at Hotel (Rongbuk Hotel) Best Hotel .

Day09:TINGRI TO NYALAM (3750m.)-214/kms.

Day10:NYALAMU TO KATHMANDU (1200m.)-123/kms.
Drive downhill to Zhangmu and to The Friendship Bridge where transportation awaits for the Groups final journey to Kathmandu.
